21 Day Fix Success Story

I just have to give a quick shout out to my girl/fellow coach Haley. I first met her friend through Instagram she joined & said her roommate may be interested. Haley emailed me a few days later and the journey began. At the time she was working out to Focus T-25 abs said she wanted finish it all the way through and the do the 21 day fix. So that's what we did.

 And let me tell you from day one I knew this girl was going to be a rockstar and she totally KILLED it in the challenge group. Not only did she get herself motivated, but she was a huge motivator to all the other girls in the group. She was engaged daily, keep the group fun/exciting, and really cheered the girls on when they felt like they were struggling.

So, when she sent me her results in just three weeks I had to share her results & what she thought out the whole process. 

Congrats girly!!! In so proud of you! You are proof that this system works & with hard work/dedication you can see the results!!!

Haley: Here are my before/after pics! I decided to use my new bathing suit as my modeling outfit hehe I started the program at 135.7lbs and ended at 128.0! I lost 7.7 lbs Inches I started at 165.2 in. and ended at 155.6 inches, I lost 9.6 in. I feel amazing. and I learned so much about how much what you are eating really affects your progress. I am in love with this program and I am definitely going to repeat it in a couple weeks. In the mean time I will continue to eat clean best and I can, I am still using my containers to get portion sizes. I think I was stuck at a plateau when I was doing T25 and what I really needed was this eating plan. It just made everything so simple and easy (and delicious). I can't say enough about this program. Thank you for all of your help and inspiration through these past 21 days

21 Day Fix Results
 

1. Describe yourself before the 21 day fix? I thought I was happy with were I was fitness wise. I had just completed T25 which I liked a lot but I noticed after the first month or so I had hit a plateau with my results. Nothing was really changing, I was fine with where I was, but I was not at my goal. I assumed I would just continue on to another program and the results I wanted would come eventually? I also thought I was making decent choices food wise and that I was doing well enough.

2. What made you decide to sign up for the challenge? I had seen some other people's results which was intriguing. But I also really wanted to see what this whole eating plan was about. I wanted to see if the way I was eating was really impacting my progress, so I decided to give it a shot.

3. What were you expecting at the end of the 3 weeks? I was expecting to see some sort of change in my body, I wasn't sure how much or how little but I was hopeful. A small part of me was also expecting to be hungry haha I thought at the end of the 3 weeks I might be starving and just stuff my face with everything (that didn't happen thank god!)

4. How did you feel after week 1? At the end of week 1 I was feeling pretty accomplished. It went by quite fast and I LOVED having my food already prepared where I can just grab it or pack my lunch box and head to school for the day! I was also sore (in a good way!) I was a bit tired but after a good nights sleep over the weekend and yoga on Sunday I felt rejuvinated and ready to see what week 2 would bring.

5.Was this program anything like you expected? Yes and no. Yes in that it gave me results and helped me to understand what proper nutrition REALLY is and how much it does affect your progress. No, in that I thought I would be hungry. Those containers look so small, but it is a lot of food. I was hungry the first day or two but my body adjusted and I am so happy I didn't cave in and have an extra snack

6. What were you first thoughts on this program? My first thoughts were that it sounded so simple. Something I could do with my busy schedule. I was a little intimidated to have to prep my entire meals for a week at first (it got easier as I went on). Also, the fact that the workouts were only about 30 min each sounded perfect.

7. If you could give advice to others considering it what would you say? It is so worth it! I think this is the best program I have completed. Don't get me wrong I love the other Beachbody programs, but this one really simplified the whole eating and nutrition part. It also helped me break alot of bad food habits I had. If that is something you struggle with or are curious about, definitely try it. I have finished the program and I am still using my containers and making choices that reflect what I learned while doing the program. The results are addictive. Stick it out and you won't regret it.

Why You Should Have a Beachbody Coach

Let me first just start off by saying although I am a health and fitness coach, I am no where near a fitness expert/nutritionist. I am not perfect and I have my flaws. I may workout every single day & motivate others too. And I am not going to lie, I do enjoy a piece of pizza, or sliver of cheesecake every now and again. While I practice what I preach, I use the 80-20 rule. 80% of the time I am eating clean & the other 20% I am enjoying in a little sweet treat.

Are you one of those people who spends hours at the gym, tries every diet/diet pills, liquid diets, every workout tape known to man kind from the store, and it just DIDN'T WORK?? Yep, that was me, I have tried everything in the books because I was desperate and it just didn't get me anywhere. How is it possible. Look at the girl on the left...this was ME two years ago someone I don't even recognize her. The picture on the right is me, CURRENT...look at the difference. I may not be at my weight loss goal yet, but I started my journey because of one person, MY COACH.

I am also here to help as many people as I can get healthy, lose weight, feel confident, and reach their goals they are looking to accomplish. We all have different goals, but we are all here to achieve a fitness goal we have in mind...TOGETHER. With the help of me (your coach) I will post each day with small mini assignments (which take no more than 5 minutes), share my tips, what has worked for me, recipes, feedback, and whatever else you would like to touch on.

I can not guarantee you the results you want. I want not do the work for you. But I can give you the tools to succeed. I can support you every step of the way. I can pick you up when you are struggling. I can say that you will meet some of your best friends in this group. You will feel better about starting. This is YOUR fitness journey, I am just along for the ride!
 
 
You are still allowed to have an occasional cheat meal from time to time. HEY, we are all human and sometimes we just need to indulge a little. Don't deprive yourself of anything, because then you will make yourself miserable and we don't want that. You want to enjoy this journey, you want to have fun, and you want to be able to fit this into your life.

21 Day Fix Challenger Success Story

I just have to take a moment and give a special shout out to a girl who I originally met through Instagram. We were following each other and started talking back & forth. We found out that we actually did not live too far away...... We began to discuss my upcoming challenge group (mind you this was months ago).  She already have T25 and a small sample back of Shakeology but never joined a challenge group.

Now, to the beginning of March she was really interested in joining my Bikini Ready in March Group. This was strictly a group for the 21 Day Fix. A fellow coach and myself were teaming up to co-run a test group where we also would be doing the fix with our challengers the first time around. This is when Lisa committed to joining and never looked back! She actually started before the group did because she received everything she needed to get started.

So NOW, Lisa is in the spotlight and I asked her if I could feature her on my blog and share her success with others, give her input, and maybe give words of encouragement for the next person : here were her responses.......


1. Describe yourself before this challenge :  Before this challenge, I was miserable with myself. All of my clothes were too tight, I hated getting dressed everyday because I never knew what I was going to wear in order to hide my body. Every day on the way home from work (at 3 p.m.), it was all I could do to keep my eyes open until I could get to my couch. Once I successfully made it home, I would lay down and sleep from 4-6, get up and make dinner (nothing healthy) and go straight to bed. I had no energy and I dreaded even getting up every day.

2. What was it that made you interested for this challenge : I knew I was so miserable with myself and that I needed something to help me with accountability. I started T25 in July and stuck with it through October. However, once summer was gone and I no longer had to look at myself in a bathing suit (and I was losing my tan), I progressively stopped working out and quit paying attention to what I was eating. It took a while for me to be totally uncomfortable with myself (around the middle/end of January). Back in October, I was really good with making up excuses as to why I couldn't work out. It started with hurting my back, then I was on steroids for a rash and that was when I really started eating anything that came my way!  

3. What got you to commit : I am not even sure how I met my beachbody coach to be honest. I already had a coach (in Colorado) from ordering my T25. I think we originally met on Instagram and then I started following her on other media, including her blog. Alyssa helped me get motivated, even though I was following her for a while before I joined a challenge group. I joined because I knew I needed something/someone to help me be accountable.

4. What were you expecting out of this challenge : I was expecting to become HEALTHIER in general from this challenge. I wanted to create a habit of portion control and working out. More importantly, I wanted to be consistent when working out. My ultimate goal was to get to the point where I had more energy and felt better about myself.

5. Describe how you felt on day one : On day one, I was EXCITED to start. I was supposed to start on a Monday (that was my goal) and my challenge pack came the Thursday before. I was so excited that I actually started on a Saturday. I went to the grocery store that morning and began prepping for the week on that day. I also worked out for the first time that day and felt amazing after the workout. I woke up on Sunday sore, but ready to go again. I felt great already on that first weekend.

6. How did you feel after one week : After one week, I was continuing to feel better about myself. I had lost a little over five lbs and was already seeing a difference in my body. I had a small set back in the middle of the first week because I got rear-ended and missed two days of workouts. IN THE PAST, this kind of thing would have caused me to stop workouts completely, but I was able to jump right back in and then the guilt subsided because I knew I wasn’t going to let myself give up. However, at this point, I did give up attempting to be “alcohol free”. This just made me work out harder (knowing that I was altering the program for myself).

7. What are three things you learned about yourself during it all : I learned that I could persevere and keep going if I just put my mind to it. It also helped to see everyone else having results in the challenge group. Once my clothes started to fit better (and now are to the point where they are loose), I knew I could keep motivating myself to keep it up.

8. What did you like about the challenge : I really like the workouts in the challenge. I enjoy that they are 30 minutes and I actually ENJOY the exercises. They make you work hard enough to be shaky and sore, along with help you work up a good sweat. However, I do not DREAD pushing play like I used to with Insanity.

9. Would you join another group : I would like to join another challenge in the near future. I would like to do something different when I am completed with the next round of 21 day fix.

10. What is your next step : At this point, I am continuing with the fix until I go to Jamaica on the 18th of this month. I no longer use my containers, and I am not AS STRICT with myself, I do have cheat meals here and there. However, I really have created a “habit” and I do not eat sweets or salty treats. I drink ONLY shakeology and water, I do not eat white bread or anything similar to that in the “carb” category for the MOST part. My first cheat meal was last Thursday when I went to my favorite Italian restaurant to celebrate my uncle’s birthday. I ALWAYS get the regular sized order of Rigatoni with meatballs. (I end up eating it for FOUR meals, that is how huge it is). Instead, I got a 6oz filet and a SIDE of pasta and green beans. I ate ½ of everything and did NOT stuff myself. I did get an Italian dressing, but I refused to eat the croutons. Therefore, I know I have created a new habit for myself. When I “indulge”, I do not go all out, I still make sacrifices so that I am not TOTALLY cheating!

11. If you could give advice to anyone who is considering joining, what would you say : My advice would be to START! Once you start, it is easy to continue. Stop making excuses, they don’t burn calories!! It doesn't get easier, you just get better!! Also, if you want something you never had, you have to do things you've never done!!!

Girl I am so proud of your hard work and dedication!!! You set a goal for yourself and there was no way you were giving up! You had set backs, but pushed through when you could. You did NOT give up and I was so lucky to have you apart of this group. You were not only determined for yourself but those who were also in the challenge group. Week 3 : 21 Day Fix Update and Progress



 
It takes 21 days to create a habit. Twenty-one days to make it part of your daily routine, your lifestyle, something you don't even have to think about. But if think of all the reasons why you can't do it. You don't have enough time. Your too busy. You are to tired and can't get up early before work or have to get things ready for the next day when you get home from work. Then you are truly making excuses and believing all the negativity.
 
STOP THE NEGATIVE TALK!
 
The only thing you need to listen to is the belief in yourself. If this is something you want to do, if you are ready to make the change. That is the only voice you need to listen to. Take that step believe in yourself and the rest will fall into place.
 
 
No matter what if you want the results you have to put in the work. The program is seven days a week but only thirty minute workouts. You have the time, you must schedule it in. NO EXCUSES. The third week you are given the option to do double up days to get max results. You don't have to it is totally your call. Here is what the schedule looks like for double days:
 
Day 15- Total Body Cardio Fix & Pilates Fix
Day 16- Upper Fix & Cardio Fix
Day 17- Lower Fix & 10-minute Fix for the Abs
Day 18- Pilates Fix & Total Body Cardio Fix
Day 19- Cardio Fix & Upper Fix
Day 20- Dirty 30 & Pilates Fix
Day 21- Yoga Fix
 
I started out with double days because I wanted to challenge myself a little bit. Honestly, I made it to Wednesday. I was spreading the workouts out...one in the morning before work and the other right when I got home. I was so so very hungry come night time doing doubles. I felt like I was working too hard and pushing myself to the extreme, so I stopped. You have to do what is right for you and listen to your body. But if you are going to do the doubles, I would highly suggest adding an extra protein into your meal plan. You will need it or you will just burn yourself out.
 
 
I used to hate lifting weights because I was always under the impression that girls who lift heavy will bulk up and look way out of proportion, but not the case. Ladies, lift weights if you have been putting it off for that one simple reason. You are not going to bulk up. I can promise you, that you will feel stronger, determined, want to push hard, and you will gain muscle BUT lean out. You may not see a difference right away and in the beginning when you start out, but I promise you if you stick with it you will be so unbelievably amazed at the process. I can say that because this picture shows something I have been working on for awhile. My legs have always been something I just never really liked, my thighs were just a little too big and I am starting to get a leg muscle pop. I love the mix of cardio and strength training together, it targets different areas all at once vs. targeting one muscle group.
 
 
 
I will keep saying it....the 21 Day Fix, you do not starve yourself. You are not eating like a rabbit. You are fueling your body and eating actually food. You are not following a diet plan and eating things that you do not like. Read over the book when you receive your package and plan out what you want to eat and when. Each color container has a list of foods to eat from best to not as good for you. Make different recipes, try new things, and if you aren't sure what something would be considered head over to the beachbody message board and type it in. Someone will get back to you and tell you what containers you should be using. It is as simple as that! All the guess work has been completed for you!
 
SIMPLE NUTRITION + SIMPLE EXERCISE = RAPID RESULTS

They shared their goals on day one and they are not stopping. They are taking it all in on the information we are providing them and stepping out of their comfort zone. And too be honest, I'm not sure if they remember there is a cash prize.

 Because this group is acting like they have known each other forever. When in fact, they are all over the states. But how cool is that, not only are they creating a healthy lifestyle for themselves, they are creating friendships. And a BONUS...someone posted just this morning she already lost 5 lbs. I'm shocked, impressed, & truly truly inspired by this group!!!

All You Need Is A Little P90X3


Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. TO YOU! It's time for celebration, cheer, and good time with family and friends. But let's face it the holidays are probably the hardest if you are trying to lose weight. If you love working out and eating clean 80% of the time there are still those holiday goodie temptations. Even if you come up with a game plan for the holidays, sometimes it is really hard to stick with it. You don't want to throw away your hard work, but the snickerdoodles just keep staring at you. To be honest, it's okay to have a treat and enjoy, it is your choice and you should enjoy the holidays. Don't make yourself miserable debating on having a cookie or not.

P90X3: 30 minutes a day
I am so excited I bought myself an EARLY Christmas present! Yes, ME! I bought myself something and that usually never happens. I love giving to the ones I love. But I decided to give myself a little something this Christmas go-around. P90X3 the newest workout from Mr. Tony Horton himself!! Now, this may turn you off a little if anyone has or has tried the original P90X. You all no the workouts are at least an hour long (maybe longer) but really who has an hour for a workout? I tried it for about a month and quit. Yes, I quit for a few reasons. 1. Tony Horton just couldn't keep my attention. 2. I love to lift weights but, it was just too slow for me. 3. I didn't have time for hour long workouts. I work early so for me to have enough time to get my workout in and get ready for work before leaving, this would require me to get up at 3:30am. I was exhausting myself and I wasn't even enjoying my workout. Can you honestly tell me you can take an hour out of your day to workout?  It's hard. Life gets in the way, we have everyday normal errands to run, a house to clean, chores to get done, and the list goes on and on.

 
Well ladies and gents it is finally here!!!! And I have to tell you every single minute and hour for days I was tracking when it would get here. I was loving T-25; getting a workout in with the results I wanted in twenty-five minutes, but I needed a change up. I was like a little kid on Christmas Eve when it got here. I purposly slept in and skipped my workout in the am, so I could come home from work and try this bad boy out. T-25 was great...fast extreme cardio but there was not many weight lifting exercises. I was definatly loosing my muscle strength and muscles.

Hot September Deal



So another month has come and is gone already can you believe it?Summertime is over (insert sad face) , even though it wasn't the best summer weather wise. It's time to pack up the swimsuits, shorts, & tanks- cover up the pool and put away the summer furniture til next year. Which only means it is time to pull out the sweatpants, hoodies, scarves, and boots. Because before we know it the cold weather will be soon approaching. But just because you don't have to sport you bikini bod anymore does that mean you put it on hold??

T-25 Update : Week One






What do you know about getting in a good workout for twenty-five minutes five days a week while working up an extremely good sweat? Have you ever done something like this in the comfort of your own home? Or do you just think I am crazy and there is no way this is possible?

Well believe it or not fellas & ladies it is true and it is from the man himself Shaun T. Ever hear of Insanity? He has now created a program just like Insanity (half the time, insane results). I know I didn't want to believe it either, but if your telling me 25 minutes vs 60 minutes and I can still get the same kind of results. COUNT ME IN! I never actually tried Insanity because truth be told I was deathly afraid of it. I heard it was intense and I just talked myself out of it. So when this program came along I was already so excited about it that I couldn't wait to try it.


                       
        

  So I picked my program and now it's time to pick the start date. I like to start working out on a Monday just because it is a routine and you start fresh on the week. So I decided September 2nd was my start date. I even like to set a reminder for myself not that I forget when I am going to start, but I make sure I put a funny/motivating quote just to get me more pumped up. 

This program came out at the end of June so I was already behind starting like everyone else. I didn't give myself any expectations. I knew what every one's thoughts on it where but they were all different and it will be different me for as well. I went in the program with a clear mind and just expecting to give it my all. Plus for twenty-five minutes I didn't have to set my alarm for 4am to make sure I had enough time to workout, shower, and get ready for work!

So here we go! Week One's Schedule. I have to say it was pretty nice to be following a schedule again, unlike what I was doing for two weeks just throwing in any workout I felt like.



Monday- Cardio
Tuesday- Speed 1.0
Wednesday- Total Body Circuit
Thursday- Ab Intervals
Friday(Double Day)- Lower Focus & Cardio
Saturday- Record Stats
Sunday- Stretch



T25, Focus, Intense, Cardio Time

Since these workouts are only twenty-five minutes long I am really focusing on giving my all 100%. Go strong from the start and ending the same way I started. In the past couple of weeks I have to be honest I was losing myself, not really giving it my all. I found myself thinking when will I be  done so I can go get ready for work. Or I was thinking of everything that needed to get done to be honest. Which really makes you lose focus and concentration and hurts your efforts in working out. So I was ready for a fresh start and to not let anything distract me this time.


                                      Be stronger than you were yesterday

We all have struggles. Believe me it is not easy and no one is perfect. I have to say before starting T25 I was having really bad issues with hitting the snooze and not wanting to get up when my alarm went off. And that is so NOT me. I am always up and at 'em when it goes off. So I told myself I would not hit the snooze. I mean this workout is short, so why not get up and get it done instead of making excuses. It is designed for those who do not have a lot of time and are busy with a million things to do. So be better than you were yesterday. Do not compare yourself to anyone else.

My food a couple weeks ago as well was struggling. I was going through some things. And when it comes stress and feeling overwhelmed food is my biggest comfort zone. Not that I would eat bad in any sort of way I would just over eat or eat just to eat, which is just as bad- seeing as I was going over my calorie intake for the day. So another goal of mine was to start tracking food and really being aware of what I was eating.

I knew I had to start tracking my food to really get myself back on track. And MFP (my fitness pal) was just not my friend. I tried and tried again, but when my food was not in there it was difficult to make sure you got it in there. I wanted something that was simple and easy. I could go in type what I had and save it. Well, I found just  that. Fooducate is now my best friend. I have an app on my phone where it actually you to just scan the barcode of whatever you want to add to your tracker and it will give you a letter grade and explain why it is that grade. Simple and easy a win-win for me is how I see it. I have also been reading this book Tosca Reno here which has been a lifesaver. It really puts things in perspective on what you are putting into your body.

Week One is complete already which is just insane for me because I didn't think it would go so fast. I really love this program. I just love it all, from the twenty-five minutes- five days a week, to sweating from the time you start-getting insane results with no breaks & a burnout phase. Shaun T really knows how to make you work in those minutes from start to finish working all parts of your body if you just FOCUS.  I am not going to lie I was huffing & puffing after this first week, because I am not use to pushing myself this hard. The burnout phase consists of picking up the pace and going faster, stronger, and harder than before for2-5 minutes. It pushes you harder and really makes you focus on the muscle groups. And to be honest you are never looking at the count down clock to be finished. I can say week one was a complete success and I am so excited that I am getting back into my routine and feeling great. I feel so much energy after finishing a workout with Shaun T.
