Honey Dijon Chicken w/ Steamed Garlic-Parmesan Broccoli
 
 

If you are looking for something light and healthy to eat, then this is for you. You only need 6 ingredients to whip this dish together! Cook them on the stove or on the grill and you are good to go! Try a different marinate for the chicken. I promise you will like these. It is a perfect blend of them both and you can't taste one flavor over the other. I have to say when I saw honey & Dijon mixed together I was a little iffy. But this was an A+ ; easy meal.

Ingredients:

Four 6-oz.  chicken breast halves
1/3 cup Dijon Mustard
3 Tbsp. honey
1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
Salt, to taste

4 cups broccoli
4 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese
Garlic salt, to taste

Directions:

Mix Dijon mustard with honey, add parsley flakes and salt. Coat a 6-oz. chicken breast half in the mixture. Cook on a grill for about 7 minutes on each side (or until chicken's fully cooked). Steam 4 cups of frozen or fresh broccoli and top with 1 Tbsp. olive oil, 2 tsp. garlic salt, and 4 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese.

Why it is important to find your "SOULMATE" workout

Have you ever bought a workout program because someone saw fantasic results? Have you bought a new workut program and you were really excited to start and kick your butt in gear. And then three weeks later you find yourself quitting?? You are not alone. You just have yet to find your soulmate workout.

A soulmate workout...what is that?? It is not as crazy as you think. Think about how many times you have said to yourself, you are going to workout and you are going to stick with it? Probably one too many if you are reading this post. And that is okay, we all have been there. We all start something and get into it for a few weeks because it's new and then fall off the wagon. But, if you find your soulmate workout then I promise you, you will stick with it, and love it.

Week 5 DONE.
If you have been following my workout journey you know I have started P90X and I just finished week 5. The first few weeks were intense as any new workout program is. I loved it because it challenged me and made me push myself. But, last week I was a struggle for me to get out of bed every time my alarm went off. I would get up, go downstairs, and push play. But, when I started working out it wasn't until thirty minutes in that I found myself actually getting into it 100%. I would find myself wondering around and asking myself is it over yet. This is NOT how a workout should be. I am not the type to workout and not enjoy it. I am not giving my all and they just are not fun anymore. I know I promised I would not quit, but I truly value having fun in my workouts and giving myself something to look forward to every morning.

At this time, I can just not complete P90X. I need to do a workout program that I love, something that I can just not wait to get up in the morning, throw on my workout clothes, and get moving. P90x just does not do that for me and I guess you can say I "failed" at my first attempt. But, I am okay with my decision, I have to stay true to myself.

 So... what's next you ask?? Tomorrow I have decided to start Turbofire- The 5day Inferno Plan. This is a meal plan and workout plan you follow for five days to get max results & a jumpstart on your weight loss. You should follow this plan exactly the way it is laid out, but there are some things I can not eat so I am making the adjustments to fit my needs. I will be switching out the meals I can not eat, for meals I can. I will follow the workout plan exactly as mapped out. Here is what my next 5 days of workouts look like:

Day 1: Fire 55 EZ Class/Stretch 10
Day 2: Fire 45 Class/Hiit 20 Class/Stretch 10
Day 3: Fire 55 EZ Class/Stretch 10
Day 4: Fire 45 Class/Hiit 20 Class/Stretch 10
Day 5: Fire 55 EZ Class/Stretch 10
 
After, the Inferno Plan is done, I plan on going back to where my weight loss journey all began...ChaLean Extreme & Clean Eating!!
 
 
This was the first workout I ever started and completed 100% giving it my all. It is a mixture of weight lifting and a little bit of cardio added. I honestly believe it is so important to love your workouts. If you don't like your workouts what is going to make you jump out of bed in the morning? What will make you excited for what is to come the next day? What is going to push you to the max? If you love your workouts you will follow the schedule day in and day out, AND get the results you are looking for. I strongly believe this is where I am suppose to be!

APRIL SHOWERS: GREAT DEALS & STEALS (6 DAYS LEFT!!!)

Can you believe April is almost over!?!?!? This month has seriously just flown by. It feels like I was just making my  New Year's Resolutions and then ringing in the year 2013 like it was yesterday and really it was 4 months ago.

I am guilty of it.

But today, in our challenge group I wanted them to shout out- loud & proud one of their non scale victories! What is a non scale victory? It is something, NOT involving the number on the scale -easy enough. Something along the lines of how your clothes fit, your energy level, your confidence level. The sky is the limit. I told them to be proud of everything they have accomplished so far. These girls have worked their butt off and everyone deserves to know their hard work. I have challengers losing WHOLE inches off their bodies, having more energy, feeling overall healthier, clothes fit looser, and even getting compliments.

Who doesn't love a good non scale victory?! I know I do and I am so glad I get to share all this with you! Week 4: P90X-30 days down

Ever watch the late night infomercials and P90X comes up? Did you know P90X is one of theeee TOP programs from Beachbody The explain the program, how it helps you shed fat, it gives you an idea of what the program will make you do, & how you can purchase it for 3 easy payments! But, as that commercial is going on do you find yourself saying, "I don't think I can do that." Well I am here to tell you, that you can do this program. Believe me, I let this program sit on my shelf for months, and every time I went to start the program I always talked myself out of it. Telling myself it was too tough, mentally challenging, any & every excuse I could give myself to not start the program. Until one day, I just said let's tackle it. And I am already done with month 1.

 
Week 4 Schedule:
Day1- Yoga X
Day2- Core Synergistics
Day3-Kenpo X
Day4- X Stretch
Day5- Cardio X
Day6-Yoga X
Day7-Rest
 
It is all about recovery this week. The first three weeks were intense. You were doing hard resistance training and lifting weights. Since doing the lean phase, every rep was 12-15 unless Tony told you otherwise. I lifted to my max and pushed myself harder than every imagined. When I was done with my workouts my arms and legs were shaking. Truthfully- I wanted to give up the first week. It wasn't fast pace, cardio like I was use too. I am use to high intense interval training. This is the exact opposite, and it doesn't help either when you are getting up at 4:30am & Tony Horton isn't too motivating. Don't get me wrong-he can be motivating but in his own way. It was an adjustment & like I said I wanted to quit the first week, but once I start something I have to finish. If I gave up, I would have never forgiven myself.
 
So, how do I feel about P90X? I absolutely LOVE it. I am so glad I have decided to stick with it. I feel so great about myself. I am getting stronger-physically & mentally. I am lifting heavier weights week by week. Starting off with cardio workouts it was hard to breathe throughout. And now I feel like I have full lung capacity, I don't dread cardio. I look forward to my morning workouts now that I have been pushing myself to get up before work and get it done. Working out is the last time I want to do after coming home from a long day of work. The one thing I just wish I could change about P90X is the hour long workouts.
 
I have never been a calorie counter in my life. And I still don't count my calories, but I have found it easier for me to just write down the old fashion way (pen & paper) everything I eat for the day. If I slip up and have something not on my meal plan, then I still write it down. It makes me aware of what I eat and to cut back. One thing I do NOT go without during these workouts are my Quest Bars & Chocolate Shakeology. They are lifesavers and so yummy! Right after my workout I go up and pick my flavor quest bar to hold me over til breakfast and then it is shakeology. I know I am burning more calories with the program so I add in a couple extra calories and the Quest bar is perfect.
 
 
What's on the game plan for this week?? It is back to lifting and pushing to my limits. I am mentally prepared and ready to get a moving. I am ready to lift heavier & burn those extra calories. I plan on sticking to my meal plan 100% and not going off track. How do I stay on track??
*Prep & plan my meals for the week.
*Make sure to look at my schedule & already have the DVD in the player.
*Make sure my workout clothes are out & right next to my bed.
*Set my alarm & write myself a motivating message to get me jumped started.
Sometimes, you just need to do whatever you have to, to set yourself up for success. There are no excuses if you are committing to yourself.

Set your Goals HIGH and dream BIG

Have you ever thought about what you wanted in life? Do you ever catch yourself daydreaming and saying,
  •  I wish I had a better job.
  •  I want a fancy car.
  •  I want my dream home.
Am I talking to you? Are you dreaming of any of these or something else? Well, lets just take a step back and define what dreaming is. A dream is a series of thoughts, images, anything you want and think of. But there is something holding you back from achieving or working towards these. Whatever that is, you need to let go of that fear.
 


 
 
 
You must set the bar high and reach for the stars. You have to step outside your comfort zone, do things that challenge you, if it is something you want-you can go get it if YOU just need to work a little hard. Your dreams have to scare you! Fear is the one thing that holds us back from being something greater than we already are. It is the PASSION the drives us to be forceful, leap over boundaries, drives us to be better, and makes us stop at nothing.
 
 
You MUST write down your goals and everything you wish to accomplish for the year. If you do not write them down then you are just wishing they happen. I will be the first to say, I never wrote down what I wanted. I always just told my friends or family & I NEVER got any where. If you do not write them down, then you will never know how hard you have to work & push yourself to get there. You must set S.M.A.R.T goals for yourself. Do not hold back on something you want. Write it down, be specific from every little detail, give it a certain date, and know what it will take to get you there. Everyone has a dream, everyones dream will be different, everyone will have to work a little different to get to where they want to be,  but will you choose to be different and go for what you want, or allow fear to hold you back?

What does this mean? This means everything on this board is what I want to accomplish this year, 2013. I am posting this for everyone to see to make it public, to hold myself accountable. I will work a little harder to push for everything on this board. I am well on my way and there is no stopping me. Everytime I look at this board it gets me excited to see where my future is going. Some of these goals are super SCARY & EXTRA BIG. But that is what these dreams are suppose to do. Remember YOU just need to take the first step and push yourself like no other!
