Week 4: Update & Progress- Les Mills Combat

Well it is offically here. Month one of Les Mills Combat is over!! Can you believe it. It really feels like I just started last week, anxious to get started, aching all over the place because I was using muscle groups I haven't in a while, and just ready to jump start my journey and get results. But it is true, if you want something you have to go and be willing to work for it. Don't go through life living say, "if only", tell yourself, "you will." If you tell yourself you will, it gives you more motivation to get started, to get moving, and stick to it.

So, how did Week 4 end up going? Truthfully, the whole week was a struggle. I have been so tired lately that it is a struggle to get up and moving out of bed. I get downstairs and my eyes are still trying to adjust to being awake fifteen minutes into working out. It is weird because it is not me, I don't usually struggle getting up and going downstairs- working out is like my sanity and I look forward to it everyday.

How did I do it? How do I get up bright and early even when I am struggling from long nights staying up and working? I'll let you in on a little secret...Energy & Endurance. This is an all natural pre-workout drink. A 1 or 2 scoops (max) into 4-8oz. of cold water, shake it up, and drink 15 minutes prior to working out. This sucker will kick in gear and you will feel like you have so much energy. It is not like a normal preworkout formula.  You do not crash after it wears off or you don't get that jittery feeling. This is my lifesaver and my go-to. It gets rid of all the excuses I have ever had. If you want to get the results, you have to put forth the effort.

Week 4-Schedule:
Monday- Combat 60
Tuesday- Warrior1: Upper Body & Core Attack
Wednesday- Combat 45
Thursday- Warrior2: Lower Body & Inner Warrior
Friday- Combat 60
Saturday- Warrior1: Upper Body & Core Attack

Woah baby is the words you can use to describe this string of workouts. I did up my weights and push myself harder, but man are my muscles feeling it. (In a good way, of course) The way I look at it is, if you aren't sore than what are you even doing!? You don't want to push yourself so hard that you injury yourself. But, if your lighting weights and you get to the max rep/time frame and you still believe you could continue then you aren't lifting heavy enough. These programs are designed for you to lift the max number of times as they are designed for you to get the results your looking for.

I feel as though I always say this but I just love Combat!!! When I first got in back in January it was a whole different swing than turbofire and I wasn't too sure. But now that I'm on my second go around- I love how it makes me feel strong, you see results with muscles you never really thought you could have, (You picture them on your dream body) it is a great frustration workout because you are always kicking & punching, and the music just pumps you right up. I truly believe you have to find a workout you love, or what I like to call your "soulmate" workout. Something that is doesn't even seem like a workout to you.

The week 4 overview?? Intense. Strong. Fierce. Bold. You may think all these words should & would turn you away, but don't just run away yet. You need something exciting , something to keep you going, and something new. Combat does this! And it is always keeping me on my toes. A move I couldn't do the week before, I know have mastered.

Now week 5 may be a challenge but we are in this together!!!! I will be away Wednesday night to Saturday, 4th of July on Thursday, & a wedding on Saturday night- but I plan on keeping a game plan together and really sticking to it. Keep following my journey ! And if you have any questions at all feel free to shoot me an email at alyssayourish@gmail.com or connect with me on Facebook!

~have a fantastic week~

Summers in Full Effect... Challenges Ahead.

READY FOR A CHALLENGE !?

Can you believe it? It has officially been summer for about a week. Next week is 4th of July and then before you know it will be time for the teachers and students to go back to school. It is insane for how much this year is flying by and every month you tell yourself, "this month is different." "I am going to start exercising and eating healthy." And a week goes by and you still haven't done anything different, then you tell yourself, "well it is the start of a new week so ill start now." Right now if you are reading this you are shaking your head and agreeing with me because you know how this goes....you DON'T workout this month. So you have to make the same promise to yourself next month.

I am here to help you end the circle. To help stop you from making those promises that you just can't keep. And actually here to help you keep those promises to yourself!!!You're ready to change aren't you? Are you ready to make July your month?!?!!! Then, listen up because I have some sweet challenges about to start. Starting July 8th I will be running three different challenge groups, so lets find out which one is right for you.

Choice One- Les Mills Combat Challenge Pack has been on sale the whole month of June. It is a $70 savings when you purchase the challenge pack vs. each item individually. Or you can look at it this way...purchase your bag of Shakeology HD and upgrade to pay $10 extra for a WHOLE workout program. Yes, you get the Les Mills Combat workout DVD's for just $10 more.  And because it has been on sale all month & you have until June 30th to decide if this is the deal for you, I am going to be running an exclusive "Stay with the Fight" Challenge group.

What do you need to do next to secure your spot? And get the deal of the month?

1. Click my site and sign up for your free account.
2. Email me at alyssayourish@gmail.com to let me know this is the group you'd like to join. Or ask me any questions you may have.
3. Then click here  to order your Combat Challenge Pack. Choose the Shakeology flavor you would like, then the bag or packets. The bag has more in it than the packets, but if you are always on the run then the packets are easiest (whatever works for you) Then, make sure you choose the home direct option. It will save you at least $15 in shipping. The best part is that I will remind in 3 weeks to either change your flavor, quantity, or to cancel your order. So you do not have to worry about getting billed & receiving another bag when you are not ready for one. There is no penalty for canceling so it's totally worth the savings!

Choice Two- FOCUS T-25!!! You know the creator of Insanity? Yes- the man Shaun T himself. And I have to say I have NOT touched Insanity yet, because he himself just scares the living daylights outta me!!!! But, he has done it again and came out with a NEW program just in time for summer. This program is five days a week for ten weeks. BUT, you want to know the best part?? It is ONLY 25 minutes long every single day- all while getting the same crazy results you get with insanity. Who doesn't love short workouts with insane results? I know I do and I can't wait to get my program.

This program is good for anyone - beginners or advancded workout junkies. It is broken up into 3 phases: alpha, beta, and gamma. Shaun T is literally walking you through this program, because he wants you to Focus on every move.
Alpha: This is the beginning of the program(Cardio 1.0). A progressive workout with no weights and no ground work. (Yes, this means no burpees) You will be focusing on your form and range of motion. This is designed, when you get tired it switches to a new muscle group

Beta:  2.0 The whole focus is on core. Your upper focus and with the movements a little quicker.
Gamma:  The strength training comes into play here. This is all about strength and weights.

So do you want to be a quick effective workout in half the time of insanity? Get the same results and be apart of an EXCLUSIVE group! I am only taking a handful of people so, e-mail at alyssayourish@gmail.com to RESERVE your spot. Registration starts July 1st.

Choice Three- Two week Shakeology Shake-off (bring a friend). This group will last just for that. 2 weeks ; 14 days and just bring a friend to join you. You need this friend because you need a teammate, you will be competing against the other teams. You split one order of Shakeology HD together. Each of you will get 12 packets each (or if you choose the bag then you will have to divide them out) in whatever flavor you choose together. Then everyday there will be a challenge..like taking pictures of your food, shake, your water, etc. If you and your partner complete the challenge BOTH then your team will be rewarded 2 points for that particular day. If only one member completes a challenge on a day then you will only be rewarded 1 point. Since, we are NOT requiring a Beachbody workout program for this group all we ask is that you complete 30 minutes min. of exercise a day. It could be anything- the sky is the limit, and then share it with the group. At the end of the two weeks the "team" with the most points will win a prize of some sorts!

What are you waiting for? Which group is right for you? Have questions just message me, I will be happy to help you choose which group is right for you. Or even which beachbody workout program if your best fit. If you think another program would be better than Les Mills Combat or even T-25, go for it! Let's get you your soulmate workout!! I am ready for YOU to change, to feel healthier and happier about you!

**Purchase a challenge pack of your choice or Shakeology HD starting July 1st-July 20th and get your name entered in a drawing for a FREE program.**

Week 3: Weekly Update & Progress- Les Mills Combat
So I am back and it is offically the start of Week 4. My last week of the first 30 days of the Ultimate Warrior Schedule. It feels so good to know I am in the final home stretch of month one. I have had one crazy week and an amazing weekend, but I love being back on schedule.
Week 3 Schedule:
Monday- Combat 60
Tuesday- Hiit Power & Inner Warrior
Wednesday- Combat 30 & Core Attack
Thursday- Hiit Power & Inner Warrior
Friday- Combat 30 & Core Attack
Saturday- Combat 45
Sunday- Rest
So, how did I do this week with the schedule? Well, I actually followed it as planned or thought I was, but during the week I actually kept thinking I was looking at week 3. When I was actually looking between Weeks 2-4. Do not ask me what I was doing because it wasn't until Friday AM when I got up and realized it, because I thought I was suppose to be doing Combat 45 and then took a real hard look that it was actually Combat 30.  (I was even doing it as I was typing the schedule above!) So, you could say I did workout everyday this week, but I just wasn't following the correct schedule above because I wasn't paying attention.
Also, we had a wedding this past weekend in Michigan so the whole family made a road trip Friday am. I stayed up super late Thursday because I just hate packing and of course waited until the last minute. Then, I got up early enough to get in my workout and get a little work done. I had my snacks packed and ready to go. I took Combat just in case they had a room or our room was big enough with a DVD to push play for Combat 45, but it just wasn't. They did have a gym so I got up Saturday morning and solely focused on cardio.
So how do I feel? I feel great. I feel stronger and better than I ever thought possible. I am pushing myself harder, upping my weights, striving to add that one extra push up everyday, and really focusing on sticking to my meal plan (staying in for lunch), and no cheating.

I have not weighed myself and nor do I plan too. I have learned that the number on the scale is just a number. It means nothing, it only means something if you are not feeling good. I like to focus on how my clothes fit, do I feel bloated, do I have low energy, etc. Focus on upping your weights, feeling excited about getting up and working out, are your clothes fitting looser, can you see muscle, things like that. If you aren't so focused on the scale it will be easier not to get discouraged and give up when you don't see the number you are looking for. Be the change you want to see in yourself.

Don't forget there are still a few days left in the month & Les Mills Combat Challenge pack is still on sale. Purchase a bag of Shakeology HD and receive the whole program for just $10 more. Ask me how!! If this seems like something that is of interest to you, but you are unsure, just send me a message and we can chat. I will answer all your questions you may have! E-mail me @ alyssayourish@gmail.com

Here is to taking another week head on and making it fantastic!!!!

Vanilla Shakeology- IS HERE!!!

It has finally been released and I can not be anymore excited about it! It was released this weekend at Beachbody's Annual Coach Summit. This was one of the many BIG announcements and it is HUGE because they have been working on this for two years!!!

Why has it taken two years for them to release the Vanilla Shakeology, you ask?
-Because we absolutely refuse to compromise on quality, it took years of searching and testing to hunt down a pure, flavorful, and ethically sourced vanilla bean that would meet Shakeology's standards. By using this particular vanilla we are able to achieve complete traceability of vanilla beans coming from a multitude of small Madagascar farms. Through our purchase of these premium beans, we are helping to invest in a wide variety of training for the indigenous Malagasy farmers as well as the building and ongoing maintenance of schools in Madagascar, enhancing the educational environment & resources for more than 3000 children.

FAQ's about the Vanilla Shakeology

What is the nutritional info for Vanilla Shakeology?
Vanilla Shakeology has 130 calories, 16g of protein, 14g of carbs, 7g of sugar, and 2g of fat. For more nutritional information and the list of ingredients, please view or download the PDF at bottom of the Shakeology.com home page.

Does the Vanilla contain both whey and pea protein?
Yes, Vanilla Shakeology still has whey protein in it. We also added a small amount of natural pea protein to round out the amino acid profile.

Will you be coming out with a Vegan Vanilla Shakeology?
We are considering a vegan version of Vanilla for the future. Check back with us next year for an update.

Is Vanilla Shakeology gluten-free?
The Shakeology formula does not contain any gluten-based ingredients and we make every effort to prevent any ingredients with gluten from coming into direct or indirect contact with our products. However, because of our high standards we do not feel it is appropriate to make a gluten-free claim since Shakeology is produced in facilities that also handle gluten based ingredients. If you have a concern about gluten it is best to consult your doctor before making any dietary changes.

When will Shakeology be certified gluten-free?
There are no gluten-based ingredients in the Shakeology formula. Although we can apply for a gluten-free certification, the safety of our customers is extremely important to us and until we are satisfied that our high standards can be met we will not put a gluten-free certified statement on the package. To meet our internal standards, we are reviewing our entire supply chain of nearly 100 ingredients to ensure that there is no potential exposure to gluten-based grains from the farm to the Shakeology product being sealed in the final package. At this point we cannot say when that assessment will be complete.

Is Vanilla Shakeology free from allergens?
Shakeology is formulated to be free of the common 8 allergens, however, Shakeology is made in a manufacturing facility that also process allergens such as soy, wheat, milk and gluten. While our manufacturing procedures follows strict, required FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), which include cleaning and breaking down of equipment between production runs and proper air filtration systems as precautionary measures, the possibility of cross-contamination can never be 100% eliminated, therefore we include the warning statement as a precaution to make our customers aware that Shakeology is Manufactured in a facility that also processes soy, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, and wheat (gluten) ingredients." We feel this is a responsible approach to help those with extreme sensitivities to such ingredients make an informed decision about the use of Shakeology.

I have not yet had the chance to try the new flavor added to the family, but I can tell you that I ordered right away and can't wait to get my shipment soon! Everyone was posting that they tried it and even the receipes they were trying, not one person said they did not like it.

Give it a go! What do you have to lose, other than a few pounds, kick your late night cravings to the curb, and just enjoy a delish (but healthy) late night treat. All you have to do is replace one meal a day with your Shakeology.

NOW is the time to start and ask all the questions you may have about it. Now is the most perfect time to start replacing a meal with Shakeology. July 15th starts next Clean Eating & Shakeology Group. Where you will replace one meal a day with Shakeology, learn the ins & outs of clean eating, receive a weekly meal plan, tips on how to stay on track, and learn how to stay away from away from those temptations.

Are you ready to get started? Ask me how and lets chat!!!

New and Improved Greenberry Shakeology!!!!

I am a little late, I know. The new and approve Greenberry has been out for about a month now, but I wanted to make sure I tried it first before pretending to tell you what I really thought. Sure I could have just wrote a post on what everyone else thought about I wanted you to know what I thought, how my first taste was, the receipe I used, and do I like it better than the old one.

So first WHY did they want to remake the greenberry, you ask?  They wanted to bring it up to speed with the rest. The old Greenberry was from about 4 years ago and since then there are more superfoods that have came out and improvements.

So what did the old formula taste like compared to the new? Most people say the old one tastes the grass. I personally did not notice the taste. I do have to say I did like the old formula when I found the right recipe. I found two that I loved and it reminded me of a tropical drink.

The new one...are you dying to know? As soon as you opened the packet it smelled the fresh fruit. You didn't even need to mix anything with it. I was so anxious to try to it. I didn't have my usual ingredients I make my greenberry with, because it was a spur of the moment decision to try it. So I just took a 1/2 banana to work with me, added water, a few ice cubes, and blended it right up.

New and improved gets 5 stars from me. It was delish!!! I get an hour for lunch this Greenberry was amazing I was done with it in 5 minutes. There is so much fresh fruit, tropical drink, and some people have even said it taste like fruity pebbles, but only better for you! I could even drink it with just water- blended together.

Differences from old vs. new:
  • Reduced calories from 140 to 130 per serving
  • Reduced Sugars from 11g to 6g per serving! (5 grams less than before!)
  • Reduced Total Carbs from 19g to 13g per serving
  • Increased Protein from 16g to 17g per serving
  • Fiber increased from 3g to 4g due to the addition of pea protein and increase in super greens.
  • Reduced fructose necessary in the formula due to the addition of Luo Han Guo
  • Added Shakeology's newest superfoods: Luo Han Guo, Moringa and Himalayan Salt.
  • Increased the amount of super-greens (it is Greenberry after all!) and included an even more delicious natural flavor which works more harmoniously with the formula to makes Greenberry sweeter and fruitier.
  • Green tea used is no longer decaffeinated — therefore it is less "processed".
    • (Note: Green tea is naturally very low in caffeine).
  • Plus we incorporated the improvements we made recently to Chocolate:
    • More concentrated grasses. We're using grass juice powders. The grasses are first pressed into juices—which allows us to concentrate the nutrients—then the juice is further concentrated into a powder. (Before we were just grinding the grasses themselves into powders)
    • Better strain of probiotics
    • No suma root or blue-green algae
    • Still Low Glycemic Index

Give Greenberry a shot. I bet you will like it much more than the old formula. Purchase your own Shakeology HD order here to get free shipping or ask me how you can purchase individuals packets. If you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to send me a Facebook message or e-mail me at alyssayourish@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing what you think of the new Greenberry!

Week 2 Update & Progress
It is that time again. Another week has come and gone, and week two of Les Mills Combat is over. It is crazy to think that if you really love a workout it won't feel like a workout. You get up everyday and you look forward to it. You get downstairs and start your workout and then next thing you know, your thirty minute workout feels like you have only been working out for ten minutes.

This upcoming week is super busy. As we are traveling to Michigan on Friday morning for a family wedding. This week I MUST stay on track (workouts, food, mindset, etc.)

It is all about coming up with a game plan and sticking to it! Of course I will enjoy my family time, we haven't had a family wedding in years and just love when we are all together. I am making my game plan tonight and I am telling myself I will stick to it as best I can. The wedding is in Michigan and besides the wedding, we are not really sure what we are going to do for the whole weekend. We see it as being on vacation. I will tell you the hotel we are staying in does have a gym, so my cousin and I have decided to get up and workout in the am, before the wedding. You have to do something about it, if you want that change.

This week I really pushed myself til I knew I couldn't anymore. Whether that meant upping weights for some exercises. Or when I was using lesser weights and when  I was feeling my arms on fire I kept on pushing through. The times where it hurts the most means it is working.

Since starting this program over and being at two weeks I have put on one pound, but you also need to know with this program I am leaning out, toning, and building muscle. So all my weight is muscle weight. I know that is probably what you do not want to hear if you are trying to lose weight, but I feel like I am at my best. And the number on the scale is just a number to me. Don't rely on the scale, take into consideration how you feel, how your clothes are fitting. I feel stronger, toner, and all over healthier.

Schedule:
Monday-Combat 60
Tuesday-Hiit: Power & Inner Warrior
Wednesday- Combat 30 & Core Attack
Thursday- Hiit: Power & Inner Warrior
Friday- Combat 45
Saturday- Warrior 1: Upper Body
Sunday- Rest Day

Nobody is going to do this for you. So if you want to push yourself a little harder and digger a little deeper go for it. I have been using my workouts for my stress reliver, my "me" time. This is my time where I get my greatest ideas, the only place where I can clear my mind and feel refreshed after. It allows me to forget about all the bad or frustration that is going on around me. It is one of the things I look forward to every single day.

Embrace every challenge. Embrace every struggle. You are who you are. Be proud of what you are doing for yourself. You don't have to go fast, you just have to start.

If you would like to know more about the program(Les Mills Combat) or on how to make a plan to stay on track or just have questions in general e-mail me alyssayourish@gmail.com. Look forward to hearing from you!

No-mess. One Pouch Meals.

What in the heck are these you ask? It is summer time and that means grillin' time. I don't know about you but I just love using the grill. So, with that said I was reading through my Clean Eating Magazine and came across these. Perfect for Summertime Grillin'. Or choose to make them in the oven when it is not grillin' season.

How to make Foil Pouch:
1. Cut large rectangles of foil
2. Divide ingredients evenly into the center of foil pieces
3. Bring the short edges of the foil together
4. Fold inward a few times along each long edge to seal

Then what do you do? You choose your ingredients. You can add chicken, fish, shirmp, veggies, seasoning, anything you want. Once you come up with your receipe place it on the foil and take it to the grill. There is no mess and because moisture is contained, this causes the dish to become more saucier, more moist, and delish.

This is one of the receipes they have shown for the Foil Pouch and I am very excited to add it to the meal plan and try it out!

Spicy Shrimp & Bell Pepper Toss:

Ingredients:
*1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails removed, optional)
*1 red onion, thinly sliced
*2 cloves garlic, minced
*2 1/2 cups thinly sliced bell peppers (TIP:opt for a variety of colors for a more vibrant dish)
*2 tbsp fresh lime juice
*2 tsp chile powder
*1 tsp ground cumin
*1/4 tsp ground cayenne pepper
*1/4 tsp sea salt
*olive oil cooking spray
*1/4 chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions:
1. Preheat grill to medium-high or preheat oven to 425 degrees
2. In a large bowl, combine shrimp, onion, garlic and bell peppers. Add lime juice, chile, cumin, cayenne and salt and toss to coat. Cut 4 12x16-inch pieces of foil and mist with cooking spray. Divide shrimp mixture evenly into the center of foil pieces, forming a mound in the center. Bring the short edges of foil together. Fold inward a few times along each long edge to seal.
3. Place packets directly on grill or on a large, rimmed baking sheet in the oven. Grill or bake for about 15 minutes, until shrimp is just cooked through. (NOTE: Carefully open a single packet to check, then resel if needed.) Allow packets to rest 5 minutes before opening. Transfer contents of packets to serving plates and top with cilantro.

Queso Dip

You know there is always that one food you just can't resist. The one food that is just your weakness, and of course is just not even nearly healthy. Mexican food is my go to food. I don't know what it is about it, but I love it. Queso dip is probably a top favorite for a lot of people, but how in the world do you make it healthy?? It isn't of course as gooey as we all would like it, but it can sure be in replace of the real thing. Check it out!! If you are a Mexican food lover like me, you will love this!!

Ingredients:
  • ½ cup plain greek yogurt
  • 2 cup mozzarella (part-skim), shredded
  • ½ cup cream cheese (low fat)
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 jalapeño
  • ¼ cup white onions, diced
  • ¼ tsp. sea salt
  • ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper

  • Directions:
    1. Preheat oven to 350 °F
    2. Place the bell pepper and jalapeño in the oven for 15-20 minutes (until charred); turn the peppers over once.
    3. Combine Greek yogurt, mozzarella, cream cheese, sea salt, and cayenne pepper in a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth.
    4. Over medium heat, cook the onions until the outsides are brown.
    5. Combine the onions to the cheese mixture.
    6. Remove the peppers from the oven, place in a bowl, and cover with saran wrap for 15 minutes.
    7. Remove the peppers from the bowl, remove the skins, and cut into slices.
    8. Add the peppers to the cheese mixture and place the complete mixture into an 8×8” casserole dish.
    9. Place dish in the oven for 10-15 minutes (keep an eye on it; you will know when it is ready).

    Enjoy :)

Week 1 Update: Les Mills Combat
    Ultimate Warrior
It is that time again. Time for my progress and updates. Since finishig Brazil Butt Lift at the end of May, going to Vegas on a little girls trip for a few days, I had a little bit of a lack of motivation you could say for a bit. I needed something that I knew was going to jump start my weight loss journey and keep me accountable. Les Mills Combat is the program of choice for the  next 60 days.
Les Mills Combat is based on the most popular mixed martial arts-inspired by bodycombat. It is fun, energized, and body transforming. It is intense cardio fitness with upper body toning. This is a program that has combined 7 martial arts classes together: Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Capoeira, and Jiu Jitsu. The trainers keep you going and the music is always pumping you up. Feel like a fighter, strong, fierce, intense.
I have done this program in the beginning of the year and loved the results I saw. But I only choose the Les Mills Warrior Schedule. I wasn't sure what to expect so I just choose the first schedule. When you get the program you see you receive the fitness program overview and it gives you three different workout schedules to choose from: Warrior, Supreme Warrior,Ultimate Warrior. You just choose the best workout schedule that fits your needs.
    Week 1:
    Monday- Combat 30
Tuesday- Hiit: Power & Inner Warrior
Wednesday- Combat 30 & Core Attack
Thursday- Hiit: Plyo & Inner Warrior
    Friday- Comat 45
    Saturday- Warrior 2: Lower Body
    Sunday- Rest  Day
This week went surprisingly well and I am proud of myself for getting up everyday before work and sticking to my meal plan. I had a crazy busy week with work, errands, pens games(they consume my night), and appointments. I was up later than usual and had to get up extra early. But I just could not make the excuses. Usually around Wednesday I like to make it my rest day even though I love having my days on Sunday. Sometimes I wake up from my alarm and my body is just so sore I feel like I can not more and I am overly exhausted. Yes, I felt this way this past Wednesday, but I told myself this is working you need to get up and follow the schedule. They know what they are doing.

I got up every morning my alarm went off. Made sure my workout clothes were out and visible that way I could just hop out of bed and put them on. I had a scoop of my E&E, and got downstairs to push play. Some days are harder than others, but if you set yourself up for success there is very little room error.

All you need a little motivation to get started. Once you get that motivation it becomes a habit. It becomes natural, your body becomes use to getting up and working out, adjusting to clean eating, and the natural energy you gain. Les Mills Combat is super intense from the moment you begin. I forgot how much of a workout this is. I am sweating from the time I push play and love every minute of it. The first week was tough. I was trying to get down to a routine and my exercise level back up. Even though I wasn't at my strongest I still pushed through. There were times I had to stop and take a little bit of a breather or a sip of water, but I still finished to the best of my ability.
Sunday is always my day to get my stuff done that I need to for the week. Set yourself up for success. Plan out your meals for the week, go food shopping, come home, and prep your meals out for the week, pack them in to go containers if you have to go to work. This saves you an outstanding amount of time. When you come home from work you can just grab all the containers put them in a lunchbox and you are done! Simple, easy, and quick. Yes it will take some time on Sunday, but if you have a long day at work it is the last thing you want to have to worry about when you get home. A complex carb and lean protein is a perfect snack. Prep for success and you are half way there!

I am ready to get busy and get on with week 2! I know I am determined a working hard towards my goal. I have a game plan in mind and I plan on sticking to it every day this week. I am just trying to be my best, I am not striving for perfection. Don't compare yourself to others, compare yourself to you. Compare yourself to the YOU the day before. Be better than before, be stronger than yesterday, and be confident in the future you!

This is going to be a great week. And I am so looking forward to it. Keep checking back for my weekly updates on how Les Mills is going and for future tips to keep you on track. Dirty Girl Run...Say WhAt!?!?!?!

Mud, 5k, obstacle course, only girls, not timed, and benefits breast cancer. Yep, this was my first offical 5K run, and before you think I am crazy and asking yourself, "why would you ever want to run & jump in mud." This was by far the best time I ever had. If you ever get the chance and are looking for a fun run to do with your girlfriends-DO THIS!!! It is for a great cause and something different to do.

    Team Fitfam
Our heat time was at 8:30 in the morning. I had no idea what to expect when I arrived. I parked the car and saw all these people. And that is when it hit me I was running my first 5k and I got super nervous. People went all out and really wanted their teams to match. From matching socks, hairbows, tutu's, people even had t-shirts made, funny team names. It is fun, laugh with some friends, test your limits with the obstacles, and just do something different. We had a time of four, probably the smallest team there, but it didn't matter. We had fun and finished the race all together.

The race was at the Fayette County Fairgrounds...perfect place for a mud run. The music was playing, people were around everywhere, and getting really excited to just start. This wasn't your typical 5k run, where you run on a flat surface straight path. There were 12 obstacles to complete placed throughout the course, twists and turns, through the barns, down hills, and back up the hills. The music was blasting through the whole course, people were dancing as they were running and singing. Making the best and enjoying themselves.

If you are looking for something new to do, this is something I suggest. You run a little, walk a little, go through the obstacle course, and you really see your limits. There were things yesterday, I would have never have imagined doing if I had not stepped out of my comfort zone. I tested my true limits and surprised myself. You had the option at every obstacle to go around, but what is the point?  Why would you want to bypass the course. It is fun, you have to do it all..no matter how challenging or scary it may be. Trust me, there are things I thought about skipping, but I just couldn't I was there, I was going through this and I was finishing it no matter what.

When you finished this race you were covered in mud from head to toe.

We did it!!!! Team FitFam looking fabulous!!!!

Our muddy shoes after the race...we donated them. They will be going to a good cause!!!

Check the first 5k off the list. I accomplished it! I feel so much better and so proud for finishing. Never thought I would be able to finish a race or ever think I would do one. But I am so glad I did it and if you have ever thought of doing a 5k yourself, go out and do one. Sign up now and go for it!!! You won't regret it! !  !
