Insanity Max30 : Week One Overview
The newest program is here, out, shipped, and in my hands! It can be yours too if you order from your coach. If you don't have one sign up here and let's get ya goin'!
These weekly updates are going to be my thoughts, meal plans, how I am doing, & such. So excuse me if I am brutally honest and blunt about these next 8 weeks.
I notice I tend to be a follower when it comes to a lot of things in life. If you know me I didn't start with insanity (the original), in fact I never did it & had no desire to. Shaun T you scare the livin' daylights outta me. But honestly, what would make me want to Max30 without doing insanity...am I crazy??? I said in the beginning, I'm a follower & I ordered it to see what the hype was about. I wanted something different. I wanted a challenge. And I wanted to prove to myself, I COUD DO THIS!
So, I ordered. Committed to doing this with a team of coaches, and helping challengers with what to expect and reach their fitness goals.
Day one came and went.can I say I just didn't expect it to be that hard. I'm actually not really sure what I expected. My max out time was 5:02 into a 30 minute program. I felt awful, I felt like I should have been able to make it further but I couldn't. And I remembered to get the results you must push yourself to the MAX....you WANT to fail!
For this week I kind of stuck my meal plan to simple. Call me plain Jane if youd like because that's who I am. I need variety, but if I could have the same thing all week while at work (makes my life easier).
- chicken (flavor up with spices)
- boil eggs off
- but I must say dinners haven't been planned and you can't succeed with a half assed meal plan. The energy you are giving, the high intense workouts, the sweat means NOTHING if you aren't following your nutrition plan. To get the max insane results you'd half to follow the plan 100%. Here I tend to follow the 80-20 rule. But this first week I was doing 60-40. I was making excuses...I was nervous for the program, terrified, my workouts certainky got done & i pushed to my limit, but my eating just FAILED and i knew i could have done better. But NO MORE!
To say the first week kicked my butt in an understatement, I got my bootay handed to me. I was screaming at Shaun t. , telling Eric to be quiet because I can't talk and push myself hard at the same time, feeling like I couldn't catch my breath, feeling sick, & like I wasn't going to be able to move from the floor. But at the same time when you finish and your on the floor (dead) collecting yourself, you feel accomplished & strong. Your times may have sucked all week, but you just gave your workout for the first time in forever.... YOUR ALL!!!! You recommitted to your health, you are doing this for you. I can't tell you how many times when I was laying there, just talking to myself, saying "congrats" although, I may hate Shaun T. during the whole time, but after I feel 100% better.
Something has to motivate you, move you, & get you going to change your life. If you don't like something about your life, change it! For me, I was slacking. I didn't have the drive or motivation to get myself moving, but I was so tired of feel disgusting. I started doing little things daily & when this program came out I said this was going to be a program for me. I took my before pictures & that was all the motivation I needed!! I really let myself go & I let myself down.
if you don't have an accountability partner, I highly suggest getting one. This person knows your goals & gets you moving when you don't feel like it. It's nice having one at home too. I have been trying to get E to workout with me forever. Now we always can't workout together (trying to get him to be an early riser) but when we do I feel like I push harder and give it my all.

This week was hell! The workouts were hard. My muscles were burning. I was screaming & sweating. My calves were on fire & tight like I couldn't move. There were days where I didn't want to do it. Days I didn't think I could push longer, but when I told myself just one second longer I noticed I pushed one minute longer. YOU are your biggest competition. This program is all a mental game...will you let your mind or body win?
Monday- 5:02
Tuesday- 7:00
Wednesday- 6:30
Thursday- 9:45 (same workout as Tuesday) increased my time
Friday- 8:06

Holiday Survival Guide : tips to get through the holidays
Ahhhhh! The holidays are here! How do you get through them without gaining weight? Life is all about moderation, but sometimes we just need a little help to push us through.
![]() |
Here are some times to help you through the holidays without letting yourself go, to MUCH...
1. Write down a game plan - come up with a schedule. Plan what workout program you will be doing and what times you will be working out. Plan out your meals. And set goals.
2. Exercise - this kind of goes along with the first one. When you schedule your workouts your more than likely to do them. Even if you don't feel like working out, start with the first 5 minutes that's all I ask ..5 minutes and then see how you feel.
3. Hydrate your body - drinking water is one of the most important things ever & yet most of us still don't drink enough. You should drink at least half your body weight in ounces. If you can do that easily than aim for more. If you struggle with it, find ways to make you drink more water. Add fruits, or put hair ties on your water bottle; when you finish drinking take a tie off.
4. Meal Plan (and plan your cheat meals)- this will help you avoid spending unwanted money and eating foods you do not want to be eating.
5. Moderation is KEY- you can grandma's not so healthy potatoes or the sweet desserts staring you in the face. It is all about moderation. You have decide what you want and not over do it.
6. Accountability - make sure to hold yourself accountable. Come up with a plan, post it out on social media for all to see, tell your significant other, or get yourself in an accountability group. What's an accountability group? A closed facebook group where each day you check in and tell the group how you are doing, when you don't feel like working out, etc. You have people all have one goal in common and that is to get fit & healthy.
7. Enjoy yourself - Simple yet. The holidays are a time to relax, enjoy your family and friends, and remember to be grateful for everything you have.

Halloween is Here: How to Avoid Temptation
Can you believe Halloween is already here?! The kids will be getting excited to dress up & walk around to get their candy. But how do you avoid the treats so you aren't throwing your hard work down the drain??
1. Don't buy your favorite candy: if it's stuff you won't eat, you won't be tempted to grab it & sneak a piece.
2. Wait til the last minute to purchase your candy: like me...yes I haven't bought mine yet. I'm actually getting mine tonight. It seems late, but if it's in my house I wil eat it (even if I know I shouldn't). I have sticky fingers and sometimes my minds a little slow when saying no.
3. Hide it: put it somewhere you can't see it. "Outta sight outta mind" mine is going somewhere up high, where Eric can only reach it because I hate dragging chairs around so I can reach.
4. Keep track of your food: it's easy to get off track and not realize what you are eating if you aren't keeping a food journal. You don't realize when you have one bite here, one bite there. When you right it down you are conscious of what you are eating and it really makes you think twice.
5. Exercise: No matter what happens always get your workout in. Stick to your health and fitness goals. Get up at your regular schedule time, workout, drink your shakeology, stay on track with your eating. That way if you do treat yourself to a piece of candy or a drink you will have had a good day.
6. Healthy Alternatives: There are a ton of healthy snacks you can have. Clean Eating No Bake Peanut Butter Energy Balls. Clean Eating Peanut Butter Cups
7. Get Accountable: Get yourself in an accountability group to hold yourself to your goals during the toughest time of the year. Learn lots of tips and get some new recipes to crush your fitness goals!

The 5 Common Excuses Everyone Gives
This may come off the wrong way but this has been on my mind for awhile. I've been thinking about how I want to say it so I don't "hurt" anyone's feelings, but I'm just going to be brutally honest. I have been getting 5 common excuses lately when it comes to working out, eating healthy, joining a challenge group.
1. I just don't have time: let me stop you right there. We all have the same 24 hours in the day. So how are you using your time. If you are scrolling through Facebook, pinning on Pinterest, or watching hours of tv shows on On Demand, you have time. All you have to do is carve 25-30 minutes out for a quick home workout. You have to make time.
2. It's too expensive: I had the same thought when I was considering joining a challenge group. For this to not get expensive you have to change your life. If you do nothing and add $130 into the mix, yes it will get expensive. But if you want this bad enough you have to make some sacrifices. Take a look at your life and see where you are spending your money daily. Are you going every morning for a Mcdonald's breakfast sandwich & coffee which costs $5. A Starbucks coffee depending on size $6. If you stop doing these daily activities think of how much money can be saved in a single month. I use my Shakeology as a meal replacement, so that is less that needs to be spent at the grocery store. It is all about making the choice to invest in your health, if you want the healthy lifestyle it just comes with sacrifices but with results in the end.
3. I can't stick to anything: If you think you can't; you won't... the power of belief. Just because you haven't in the past does not mean you aren't now. You can do anything you put your mind too, no matter what it is. If you start this going all in and giving everything you got, finding a program you love and you ARE going to stick too you WILL. Accountability groups are so important in this aspect because I at one point in time did not stick to anything. I would start something and in two weeks because I wasn't seeing fast enough results I just quit, and there was no one to stop me because I was in on this alone. No judging when it comes to this group, this group is your safe haven. A place for you to check in for daily motivation, tell us about your struggles, what is working well for you, a place to just come for positive motivation, and when you feel like giving up or you are in a rut this group everyone will support you and push you to just keep going.
4. Eating healthy...way too expensive for us: It's not that it is expensive, maybe the fruits and veggies are just a little bit. But you are getting whole foods and you are staying full for way longer. You are fueling your body with proper nutrition so in the end you are not eating all the "crap" that makes you feel tired/sluggish/bloated right after you eat it. When you take care of your body, the likelihood of you being sick or given medication is slim to none.
5. I just don't have support: You are not alone in this journey...and I have found that out the hard way. There are plenty of people out there who are looking for ways to get healthy & find a workout routine that works for them. The problem is people tend to think they are alone and they are just afraid to try and fail. If you want to get fit and healthy and you don't want to do it alone, you don't have too. I will support you 100% of the way and we will get you in an accountability group with other people just like you looking to create a healthier lifestyle. But let me just start by saying, failing is apart of life and it is what makes us who we are. All you have to do is start, you don't have to go out and run a marathon on your first day. This is going to be slow and steady. Remember this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. And believe in yourself, because I believe in YOU every step of the way.
If you haven't been in an accountability group before and you think maybe this is exactly what you need please feel free to take a few moments and fill out the application below and then we can discuss together what options are best for you. And if you have been in an accountability group before and you just fell off the wagon (sometimes we just do) and you want to get back on track feel free to fill this application out as well ! You are worth so much more than you give yourself credit for!!

Monday Motivation : Workout Blues
Did the weekend get the best of you? Was it filled with parties, family get togethers, weekend away, seafood broil, night out with the friends. Lots of temptations and maybe some less then stellar food choices...right? Maybe you slacked on your water and eating every 2.5-3 hours. Had some drinks to unwind. Whatever it is dust yourself off, the weekend is over and it's time to get back on track!
But how? How do you get back on track when you just feel bloated, tired, and just want to catch up on sleep.
You set the tone for your whole week. So how you choose to feel and what you choose to do Monday morning will determine your success. Remember no one can do this for you, you have to push yourself. But here's what helps me if I ever have an "off track moment"
- Sunday as soon as you wake up and get situated start hydrated yourself. Don't just aim for half your body weight aim for more.
- Set your workout clothes before you go to bed. Put them right next to you (shoes included) so you see them as soon as you wake up. Heck if you want...sleep in your workout clothes. I mean no ones going to judge you at your home gym.
- Create a game plan. That means your workouts, food for the week, prepping, and getting your mind straight.
- Set your alarm (for me I have to set it 4 different times). I tend to turn it off in my sleep or set it for way later. And place it somewhere, where you have to get out of bed. When it's close by it's so easy just to reach instead of getting up.
- Go to bed with a positive mind. Whether that be you create a list of everything you are grateful for, read a chapter of a positive book, or write over & over again "this is a new week, I will succeed." I have done this before and it really triggers your mind to believe and you then think about it as your falling asleep.
- Lastly find yourself an accountability partner someone that you can text/call/etc first thing in the am to get you both moving. Or they will text you whatever time you guys decide to workout. Send motivation quotes, positive words, sweaty workout pics, have fun with it!
Find what works for you! Everyone is different. Everyone likes different workouts and times to workout. But remember this is your fitness journey.
If you fell off track this weekend or your just getting started on your journey try these beginner steps, they may seem simple & easy....but they make all the difference. I hope these help! And if you have any questions feel free to email me : alyssayourish@gmail.com or add me on Facebook and we can chat more there!!!!
Happy Monday!!

Weekly Update: Beta Week 4
If you have been following my progress and my journey you know I have been working out with Shaun T every morning bright an early. Focus T-25 has been my program of choice. It has been challenging. It has pushed me to my limits and really allowed me to see myself push harder. And teach me that I can do more than I actually think I can.
People may call me crazy but I just say I am determined. With my work schedule to get my workout, in enough time to get ready for work, etc I get up anywhere between 4-4:30. And I can't lie sometimes it really is hard to get up that early, but it is the only way I will not make excuses. If I don't then when I get home I know it will be harder for me to do it. It is hard to work all day and then come home to working out and getting prepped for the next day. I will not compromise on a workout. That is "my" time. It is my stress reliever, it is a time for me to clear my head and get my mind set straight before starting my day. I love everything about how I feel when I am done. Week 4 Beta Schedule:
Monday-Rip't Circuit
Tuesday-Dynamic Core
Wednesday-Core Cardio
Thursday-Dynamic Core
Friday-Speed 2.0 & Upper Focus
I did Speed 2.0 Friday and decided to do Upper Focus Saturday morning. I love lifting weights and upper focus is a favorite of mine. I started to lift heavier and push myself one step further Saturday. And let me tell you, my shoulder/chest area...SUPER SORE, which I know it is working, but woah baby my arms are sore. The one thing I will say I noticed a difference is from stretching. This week I skipped the stretching and my muscles were really sore compared to when I actually stopped a gave myself a three minute stretch. Stretching is really important when you are going to workout so intense like that.
I'm struggling with eating. I just can not pin point it. I always ALWAYS have my Shakeology for breakfast & lunch is on key as well. When I get home dinner is good too, but then its the after dinner hours that get me. I am not sure why. I know it is wrong and I shouldn't have it, but sometimes it doesn't stop me. It is almost like you have it looking at you right in your face telling you to eat it. Or is it possible to lock your kitchen cabinets right after dinner, because I am highly starting to consider it. Truthfully, I don't feel stressed or like I have a million things going through my head. And I know I'm not, so I am not sure I know what the word is to describe how I am feeling. My work situation has not been the greatest right now, so maybe that is a factor. I am not sure if I am feeling upset, disappointed, angry, hurt, it really is hard to go into work everyday and pretend like things are okay. I mean you spend practically your whole day there, you want some interaction right?! I think right now I am feeling confused, because I want to be accepted, but then again I am being myself and why should I have to change myself. So in the end I am confused.. but everyday I go into work with an open mind and tell myself positive thoughts. Some situations you can just not change.
Challenge yourself. Push yourself to your limits. You are your greatest competition. You never know what you are capable until you try!

Losing those Last 10 Pounds Can Be Tough
Do you have trouble losing those last ten pounds? It feels like no matter what you do, they are just so stubborn they won't come off anywhere? If your saying yes to yourself right now, do not worry you are not alone this has happened to me! I tried everything...increasing my water intake, exercising more than I do, and make myself diet.... And still NOTHING!!!! And when you don't see results that's when you throw in the towel and just give up.
Do not expect to starve yourself, because that is just not going to happen. I like to eat, but eating the right foods makes the difference. So you will be eating 5-6 meals a day. No fancy recipes, just foods simple and easy. Still drinking half your body weight in oz of water and exercise!!!!
But I am here to tell you, that you do NOT have to give up! I have something to offer you, just in time for the holidays. Ever hear of a little book called Tosca Reno: Eat Cleaned Stripped? This is going to be your best buddy. The #2 coach in all of Beachbody is opening up her next challenge group up, which she has successfully done herself to get of the last 10lbs. And now, I am inviting you to join right along side me to learn from the best!!!!!
So here is the offer (that sounds too good to be true): a 30 day support system has been created for ANY individual who is willing to commit to the following requirements: each day log into the closed online group and you will see a tip of the day, recipe, and information to use to help lose the weight. A meal plan will be provided for the week. You can choose to use it how it is or fix it to make it for for you. You have access to us as a team any time of the day. When cravings strike you have the group to lean on. We are all here to truly help each other. I find it really makes all the difference if you have an amazing support system on your side (or virtual).
Do not expect to starve yourself, because that is just not going to happen. I like to eat, but eating the right foods makes the difference. So you will be eating 5-6 meals a day. No fancy recipes, just foods simple and easy. Still drinking half your body weight in oz of water and exercise!!!!
What's next???
2. You are required to replace one meal a day with Shakeology HD for the whole 30 day group. This is not just a protein shake/weight loss shake, but a nutrient meal shake. This is the one meal that is quick and easy to go and will save you when life gets in the way. You are getting the right protein to carb ratio of what your body needs to have enough energy, keep you full, and help save your sweet tooth. Shakeology is certainly amazing and is worth the investment you will be making. This if you are always on the run, veggies aren't your first choice as a side for dinner, or you get home late and have nothing prepared for dinner...it will save you! And be the best decision you ever made! Just try it and give me thirty days to let me change your doubts or reservations on it. I was weary on it at first too, but honestly I can't imagine skipping this meal for a day. My stomach problems...GONE- just from clean eating & shakeology.
Exercising is not a requirement but it is highly encouraged. We will mainly be focusing on Shakeology & Clean Eating but exercising will help with your individual results. If you want something that is effective and time efficient I highly suggest Shaun T's: FOCUS T-25. It is my personal fan favorite, twenty-five minutes a day and you are still seeing the results. It is quick and effective. But if you are pressed for time like most of us are in our busy lives or you sleep in and don't wake up from your alarm. You still have time to get your workout in and be ready for where you need to be.
That's a wrap...the 30 day Clean Eating Stripped Challenge Group in a nutshell. Commit to 30 days and I promise to give you 100% of my undivided attention, you will succeed in this group! You have my support and the group of others!!! Are you in?!
If you are ready send me an e-mail message to let me know. And I will return your message ASAP walking you through the whole sign up and ordering process. The group starts on November 4th so there is not much time left before it closes.
Are you ready to feel good this holiday season?!
